This website, my website, is a presentation of my photography portfolio and styles. I am committed to taking photographs that keep my gallery looking fresh and inspiring. For me, Photography is more than a job. much more, It is a hobby. It is a passion. It is a way of life!

What makes David Thorpe Photography special and unique is the passion and commitment that I inject into every photograph. I strive to meet and exceed not only yours but also my own expectations in providing fantastic quality photographs at an affordable price.
My first experiences of photography were in 1990. After receiving a Praktica LTL 3 from my grandfather I found myself relentlessly photographing everything from the grass to the family dog. It was safe to say, I was hooked.
For a number of the early years I found myself volunteering at every opportunity to take photographs for family and friends. This was greeted with high regards and encouragement, I was always commended on my sharp eye and high standard of photography. The support around me and my ever-growing passion for creativity led to a realisation that the only way to keep myself smiling was to take photography seriously. I decided my hobby was to become a career.
Not just relying on my raw talent and keen eye I decided to back this up by attaining qualifications in photography and studied with the Institue of Professional of Photography gaining a Dip. Pro.Photo. (Inst. P.Photo) with distinction!
After a decade of experience using various film SLR cameras, I felt it was time to take the plunge into Digital SLR. With this advancement in technology I was able to realise the productivity, functionality and flexibility that I now had at my fingertips. My passion was only growing.
As well as my passion for photography I have 12 years experience designing websites, graphics and logos. I offer services in both of these fields. This helps me keep a keen eye on all things creative and gives me the opportunity to combine my skills. My one desire is to give you a fantastic product.

Rates for Commercial Photography (Non-advertising)
For a detailed project quotation, please call or email me. The pricing below will help you establish the outline cost for your brief.
I work to half or full day rates, dependent on the scale of job, location and production requirements. On average my commercial rates are as follow:
- £200 per half day (plus expenses)
- £400 per full day (plus expenses)
Rates will vary for projects that cover longer time frames.
- First hour ~ £100
- Hourly rate ~ £50
- Per half day (up to 4 hours) ~ £200
- Per Day (up to 10 hours) ~ £400
- Assistant (only if required) ~ £100 per day
(An image ‘usage fee’ may be charged on top where images are required for advertising and promotional purposes)
Prices include photography, editing, general retouching and colour enhancement, for work carried out during standard office hours. For large commercial projects please contact me for a more accurate quotation.
General Terms
Copyright of all images remains the property of David Thorpe Photography unless otherwise arranged. Fees for advertising and similar promotional image use may be considerably higher than the daily rate quoted above, depending on the scale of the campaign and where and how the images will be used.Payment terms ~ Strictly 15 days from date of invoice.
Expenses
I am happy to work on location in the UK and abroad subject to mutually agreed accommodation and travel arrangements. UK Travel ~ 35p per mile.Models / studio hire / make-up / assistant /props, etc – charged at cost and may be required in advance, depending on scale of shoot. Specialist equipment / camera hire will be charged in addition to the above if required for a particular shoot. Elaborate retouching will be charged by the hour if necessary to complete brief @ £60 per hour
Formats & Delivery
I use professional-quality canon camera equipment and lenses and Apple Macintosh computers for post-processing and production. If larger formats are required, this can be arranged. Images can be delivered on-line via a secure server or on DVD and come with an agreement to use the images, with no individual licensing fees. Images may be used in UK marketing and promotional material commissioned by your company. This allows you to use the images on your website, brochures and other UK promotional material on a perpetual basis without additional cost.
